Mrs. Mary Jane Barton, a resident of Franklin county for many years, died last night at the home of her son, A. J. Barton of 705 South Hickory Street. She had been in failing health for eighteen months and her death at 11 P.M. resulted from kidney trouble.
The deceased was past 70 years old. She was a native of Missouri and was born December 20, 1850. When a little girl she came to Kansas. On December 20, 1867 she was married to William Barton at Peoria. His death occurred September 12, 1914. About 16 years ago the family moved from their farm seven miles east of Ottawa and lived in the residence at 816 East Seventh Street until two years ago when it was sold. Mrs Barton has since made her home with her son.
Three sons living are A.J., W.L. and Clyde Barton all of Ottawa. W.L. Lancaster and M. G. Lancaster of Ottawa are brothers and Mrs. Nannie Crain of this city a half sister of the deceased. Mrs. Barton is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from the First Methodist Church. Dr. H. G. Case is to conduct the services at 2;30 o'clock and interment will be in the cemetery at Peoria. Mrs. R. W. Wadel will have charge of the music and pallbearers will be from the George H. Thomas Post of the G.A.R.
