Samuel married Sarah Reed 30 Dec 1762 in Boothbay ME. Samuel and Sarah had 10 children and 70 grandchildren. Their children were Mary (1763-1835), Andrew (1765-1780), Samuel (1767-1777), William (1769-1801), Jane (1771-1852), Sarah (1773-1830), David (1775-1851), James (1777-1868), Samuel (1779-1852) and Jonathan (1782-1861). All of their children were born in Boothbay ME.

Samuel was a carpenter and among other buildings built the first church in Boothbay ME. Samuel also owned 320 acres of land on the westerly side of Adams Pond in Boothbay ME.
