Mrs. John Bilhorn, (nee) Mary Margareth Schlichtemeier, was born November 1, 1870, near Kramer, Lancaster County, on the old Schlichtemeier homestead. There she was reared and grew to womanhood. The "one thing needful" was not neglected by her parents. She was baptized and instructed in the word of God and later confirmed in the Kramer Lutheran church.

On January 22, 1893 she entered the estate of holy matrimony with John Bilhorn of Crete. This union was blessed with five children, three sons and two daughters. Twenty-eight years of her married life she spent on farms west and northwest of Crete. Two years ago she moved to Crete with her family. Last Fall she began to fail in health. Everything was done to bring about a cure but in vain. She passed away unexpectedly Sunday forenoon at 11:45 having attained the age of 52 years, 5 months, and 21 days.

She leaves to mourn her untimely departure her husband, five children, two grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services were held yesterday at the Lutheran church by Rev. Schrein. Interment was made at Riverside cemetery.
