Bette grew up and graduated High School at Tilden, Nebraska. She earned her bacholar's and masters degrees in education from Chadron State College. She was a career elementary school teacher in Chadron and Alliance. She retired in 1975 and moved to Garden City from Alliance in 2006. Bette was an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son, Alan Robert Cram and 1 brother, Richie Ashburn. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. September 04, 2008 will take place in Alliance, Nebraska.∼Bette J. Cram, 86, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Homestead Assisted Living Residence in Garden City.
She was born June 2, 1922, in Tilden, Neb., to Neil and Genevieve Warner Ashburn. She grew up in Tilden, graduating from high school there, and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Chadron (Neb.) State College.
Mrs. Cram was a career elementary school teacher in Chadron and Alliance, Neb., before retiring in 1975. She moved from Alliance to Garden City in 2006. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Alliance and was an avid bridge player.
On April 3, 1942, she married Edwin Cram in Tilden. He died Dec. 13, 1999. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Alan Robert Cram; and a brother, Richie Ashburn.
A memorial service was at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. A second memorial service was in Alliance.
