From "A History of Town of Middlefield" by Edward Church Smith and Philip Mack Smith:
Volume 2, page 463:
John Damon came to Middlefield probably from East Windsor CT, about 1788. He married Prudence Bissell, daughter of Israel and Hannah Bissell of East Windsor, CT. He first lived on Lot 208, Wor. south of the farm of Mr. Sweeney. By 1797 he had moved to the north part of the town, for he bought of Benjamin Blish parts of Lots 214 and 198. His home was probably the one later occupied by Obadiah Smith, one mile north of the Cottrell farm.
Volume 2, page 413:
Israel Bissell was born in East Windsor, son of Jeremiah Bissell. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War dying of distemper in 1776. His widow Hannah married John Crane as his third wife. Hannah died in Middlefield on May 30, 1799.
