Spouse of Samuel Matthew "Matt" Edwards (1900-Abt. 1930), marrying Oct. 14, 1917 in Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. 1910 U.S. Federal Census: Resided with her uncle John Barnett & family in Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas.* 1920 U.S. Federal Census: Relocated to Texarkana, Bowie County, Texas with her husband, daughter, & 15 y/o sister. 1930 U.S. Federal Census: Widowed, waitressing in Texarkana. Per the written memoirs of Robert Absalom Johnson (1899-1980) dated June 9, 1969: "Mrs. Bird—San Antonio—Wrote 'My 75 years on the Western Plains'; Possibly related to Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson." Died, 85.

--- *NOTE: Per the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Byrd's relationship to John Barnett (head-of-family) was "niece." Speculation suggests that she was one of two daughters orphaned by the deaths of her parents, presumably Martin & Ellar (Wafford) Barnett, John's brother & sister-in-law respectively.
