Ben. G. Rollins 74, Weiser, passed away March 19, 2012, at his home on the Weiser Flat, surrounded by his family.
Services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Tomason Funeral Chapel, Weiser. A potluck will be held at 736 Island Road (Weiser, Idaho) after the service.
Ben was born Nov. 27, 1937, to George Athen (Nate) and Lah Vaughn (Joan) Richins Rollins in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He graduated from Weiser High School in 1956. Ben married Sandra (Sandy) Jeanne Wilson in Elko, Nevada on June 16, 1957. They had three boys, Todd, Deri, and Wade. Ben worked for the Safeway grocery store in Weiser, Idaho as produce manager, and later as assistant manager at Safeway in Ontario, Oregon. Finally, he served as the Safeway store manager in Mountain Home, Idaho. After the move to move to Mountain Home the family moved back to the Oregon Slope and owned and operated Macks Grocery, which was located on the turn-off between Weiser, Idaho and the highway to Farewell Bend State Park in Oregon. There too on the Oregon Slope Ben and Sandy Rollins bought a farm and raised various crops and seed. Ben was well known for ihis custom combining. And there they farmed until selling out and moved to the Weiser Flat for retirement. Ben loved to go camping, snowmobiling, ATVing and hunting with his family and many friends.
Ben is survived by his sons, Deri (Maggie) and Wade (Georgia); grandchildren, Cody, Josh, Lacey, Justin, Hailie, Brandie and Chance; 12 great-grandchildren, and one due in April; a special friend adn caregiver, Heather Curtis; his brothers, Ron Rollins, Nolan (Bonnie) Rollins; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Billie Holson; adn many neices and nephews.
Ben was preceded in death byhis wife, Sandy; son Todd; his parents, Nate and Joan Rollins and step-mother Julie Beason Rollins, and his father and mother-in-law, Len and Helen Wilson.
