WALTERBORO: Mr. William Mitchell O'Quinn, husband of Lillian Goethe O'Quinn, died Saturday morning May 26, 2012 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. He had just turned 91.

Mr. O'Quinn was born in Colleton County May 26, 1921 a son of the late Henry Cleve O'Quinn and Hilda Youmans O'Quinn.

He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard as the General Foreman of Maintenance, and was a charter member of the Chee-Ha Hunting Club.

Mr. O'Quinn was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro where he was a Deacon, a Sunday school teacher, the training union director and a member of various church committees. He was also a member Unity Masonic Lodge #55.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters: Marlene O. Goodwin (Mackey) of Columbia, Amy O. Drew (Jesse) of Hendersonville, Michele O. James (Randy) of Ridgeland, and Celeste O. McCollum (Bryan) of Walterboro. There are six grandchildren: Kim G. Spigener (Scott), Mitch Goodwin (Misha), Jesse Drew (Katrina), Heath Drew, Lydia M. Culler (Bax) and Quinn McCollum. There are also four great-grandchildren: Asher Spigener, Brice Spigener, Alexandara Goodwin, and Cody Drew.

Mr. O'Quinn was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Claire O'Quinn and by a sister Oletha O. Hiott.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 3:00 in the First Baptist Church of Walterboro, with burial following in the Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 at the church and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
