"C. W. Darden, Sr. Dies In Smithfield
SMITHFIELD - - Charles Wilson Darden Sr., 64, of Smithfield, died unexpectedly Friday night in his home following a heart attack.
Mr. Darden was a farmer in Isle of Wight County and was county fire warden. He was a member of the Isle of Wight Christian Church, president of the Isle of Wight Hunt Club and member of Pagan River Barracks.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Chapman Darden; two daughters, Mrs. Benjamin W. Jones, Jr. and Mrs R. W. Stallings III, all of Smithfield; three sons, C. W. Darden, Jr. of Smithfield, K. A. Darden of Radford and Graham Darden of Greensboro, N.C. ; five sisters, Mrs. Nellie Hundley, Mrs. Crawley Nursey and Mrs. Melvin Blyphe, all of Smithfield, Mrs. Frank Wrenn of Denron and Capt. Helen Fitchett of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo; one brother, W. J. Darden of Smithfield; and six grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in Uzzells Church Cemetery at Smithfield. The Rev. William A. Grissom, pastor of Isle of Wight Christian Church, will officiate. The procession will leave Jones Funeral Home at 2 p.m."
