PORTAGE — Clifford G. Achterberg age 79 a life-long Portage resident died on Tuesday March 4, 1997, at his home in Saddle Ridge. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 8, 1997, at 11:00 am at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Rev Thomas Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow in Shanks Cemetery in the Township of Caledonia. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday March 7, 1997, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage where a service will be conducted by Portage Elks Lodge at 7:30 pm. Visitation will also be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am.
