Grace Marie (Spencer) Burton of South Lyon, Michigan passed away peacefully January 14, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born on June 8, 1931 to Huston and Ada Spencer in Breathitt County, Kentucky where she met and later married William C. (Shorty) Burton on August 1, 1947 in Vada, Lee County, KY.

Grace and Shorty moved to South Lyon where they raised their three children and were married for 44 years until his death March 4, 1991.

Grace was an avid bowler and league member in town for over 40 years and, along with her two daughters, was a member of the 1980 WIBC State Champion Team. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards with family and friends and especially enjoyed a few winters in Florida. Grace also enjoyed volunteering her time at the Veterans hospital in Ann Arbor. Most of all, Grace treasured her family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Geraldine (Mitchell) Stamper and Charlotte Crane, both of South Lyon. She is also survived by three sisters, Ruth Spencer of Cookeville, Tennessee, Eunice "Teal" Burton of South Lyon, and Becky Collett of Spartanburg, South Carolina and sister-in-law Joan Spencer of South Lyon. Grace is also survived by her six grandchildren, Steven (Tracy Frescura) Stamper, Marsha (David) Pudney, Melissa (John Airo) Hoskins, Justin Merritt, Amanda (Joe) Spraggins, and Jeannie (Steve) Bell, her 12 great-grandchildren and longtime friend Gene Stamper.

She was preceded in death by her husband Shorty, son William "Bill" Burton, brothers Porter Ray, Huston Jr, Henry, Frank, Cecil, Dan and Elijah "Mick" and son-in-law Joseph Crane.

Grace was a strong, spirited and stubborn woman with a fantastic sense of humor. She will be missed deeply by her family.
