Stanley W. Bastion, 86, of 403 N. Oak Street, Toluca, died August 13, 1998 ar 1:37 a.m. at BroMen Regional Medical Center in Normal.
Mr. Bastion was born January 13, 1912 in Toluca, the son of Fred E. and Lena Mathis Bastion. He married Jean E. Chasten on February 14, 1943 in Lostant. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Janet L. (Thomas) Gardner of Bloomington, Susan K. (Paul) Johnson of St. Louis, and Jane E. (John) Barnes of Three Rivers, MI.; and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Fred E. Bastion, one granddaughter, and one sister.
He was a member of Antioch Christian Church, Toluca, where he was a Sunday School Teacher. He was a charter member of Toluca Rotary Club, a member of John Rolinski Post #440 American Legion Toluca. He served on the Toluca School Board. He graduated from Eureka College where he later served as trustee of the college. He served the U.S. Army in WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He enjoyed playing the piano and listening to piano music. Stan was a salesman at Imm & Son Dealership in Toluca for over 50 years.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 15, 1998 at Antioch Christian Church in Toluca. Rev. Robert Odell officiated. Burial was in Antioch Christian Cemetery. Visitation was at Aimone-Froelich Memorial Home in Toluca.
