Sapulpa - Herbert N. Fox, 82, retired maintenance worker, died Thursday in Claremore. Prayer service 6 p.m. Monday and service 11 a.m. Tuesday, both at Smith Funeral Home Chapel. (Tulsa World)

Herbert Nelson Fox went to be with the Lord on May 24th 2012 in Claremore, OK. Born to Henry and Melissa (Tiger) Fox on February 6th 1930 in Kellyville, OK, Herb attended the Euchee Mission Boarding School during his early life.

Herb served honorably in the United Srates Army and Air Force from 1949 until being honorably discharged from the Air Force on February 27th 1956. During this time he met his wife Martha Wilson, marrying her on August 5th 1952. Herb was the proud father of ten children during his time on this Earth. The majority of his time was spent coaching his sons on the Sapulpa Racers as they played fast pitch softball and with the Sapulpa Hawks in basketball. He was well known throughout the state for his teams. Herb was a fixture on the sidelines for decades and was able to watch his grandchildren take the place of his sons as time went on. His influence is still felt to this day with the Oklahoma Racers, a team that includes his grandson, Micah Roger Fox. Herb worked for Bartlett Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years until his retirement in 2000.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years. He is also survived by six sons and spouses. He is also survived by three daughters. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding Herb in death are his parents, Henry and Melissa Fox, sister Betty Fox, half-brother Matthew Tiger and son Roger Fox.

Services are scheduled for 11am Tuesday May 29th at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sapulpa, Ok with burial to follow at the Fox Family Cemetery in Hectorville, OK. Officiating will be the Reverends Phillip Fox and Ray Samuels.

Wake services are scheduled for Monday Evening May 28th at 6pm at the same site. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa, OK.
