He worked at the Farmers Store for 4 years. Bill purchased the Gambles store in 1935 and operated it for 38 years until retirement. He married Evelyn Lilliboe of Elbow Lake at Ness Lutheran Church in 1937. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987. They raised their sons Harlan and Rodney.
Bill was active in Hoffman Volunteer Fire Dept., Bethel Lutheran Church council and Hoffman Senior Citizens. He served as chairman of the Hoffman school board, president of the Hoffman Commercial Club, and was a member of the Lions Club and Hoffman Golf Club. His hobbies included golfing and bowling. He sponsored teams of each sport for many years. Bill had a good sense of humor and enjoyed good natured joking.
Survived by his wife and sons. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Edwin and Adolph Anderson and two sisters Edna Anderson and Amanda Strom.
