William James Clegg was the first child of William and Emma Louisa Gittens Clegg. He moved from Heber City, Utah with his parents and brothers and sisters to Shelton, Idaho about 1885. He married Mary Elizabeth Mudd on December 22, 1888 in Eagle Rock, (now Idaho Falls), Bingham County, Idaho. They lived in Meadow Creek, Millard County, Utah for a short time and then moved to Willow Creek, Bingham County, Idaho (now Ucon, Bonneville County, Idaho). He and Mary Elizabeth had nine children, seven of which survived to maturity. By farming, raising honey bees, and trapping he provided for his family. He loved music and he and Mary taught their children to play many musical instruments.
