Son of Samuel Park and Isabella Gray

Hamilton first heard the gospel and was baptized into the Church in 1840, when he was 14 years old. Four years later he married Agnes Steele and, together with their family, they came to America in 1850. They stayed in St. Louis for two years and buried one child there, before going on west.
Two years after arrived in in Utah, Hamilton became the business manager for Brigham Young, acting in this capacity until 1869. At one time, when the government threatened confiscation of church property and money, he was put in charge of these things, and even Brigham Young didn't know where they were. He was also business manager of Joseph A Yuoung's affairs.
He fulfilled two missions for Great Britain, in 1869 and again in 1875. He was president of the Scottish Conference. He also filled an eight-year home mission.
After returning home from his second mission, he held a responsible position in ZCMI. He was devoted to the church. He often told of faith-promoting experiences he had throughout his life. He taught Sunday School and was a great influence for good.
He loved trees and planted many at his home and around the area. He was a fluent writer and speaker, extremely honest and had great faith.
