"George D. Rosengarten, the founder and head of the large chemical works at seventeenth and Fitzwater streets, died yesterday at his home, No. 1532 Chestnut street, aged 89 years. He was born in Cassel, Germany, June 20 1801, and came to America at eighteen, and founded his chemical works in 1821, in St. John street. Mr.Rosengarten was manager of a number of financial and charitable institutions and was one of the oldest members of the Philadelphia Club."
