Elsie M. Webster, 84, a longtime Lewiston resident retired from Lee's Men's Store, died Monday morning of a stroke at the Royal Plaza Care Center at Lewiston.
She was the daughter of Hal W. and Ada M. Hosley Forge, born Nov. 8, 1912, at Forest, Idaho. The family lived on a homestead near the Deer Creek mine on the breaks of the Salmon River south of Forest. The family moved to Nebraska in 1919 and returned to Winchester in 1920. They later moved to Clarkston and she attended high school there.
She lived in Spokane and Seattle before marrying Edward W. Webster March 20, 1944, at Seattle. The couple made their home at Lewiston, where they operated Webster Studio and Camera Shop until 1956.
She later worked for Miller's Department Store, Dean's Jewelry and Lee's Men's Store, all al Lewiston. She retired from Lee's in 1979 and he died Dec. 23, 1986.
She had been a member and past president of the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Auxiliary at Lewiston. She was active in the Ladies of the Elks and the Order of Eastern Star, both at Lewiston. She was a former member of the Lewiston Gun Club and belonged to the St. Alban's Guild at the Church of the Nativity (Episcopal) at Lewiston.
She enjoyed crocheting and baking.
She is survived by three brothers, Harry Forge of Yakima, Ernest Forge of Quincy, Wash., and Walter Forge of Lewiston; and a sister, Genevieve McLeod of Eugene, Ore.
Cremation will be followed by a memorial servicce at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nativity (Episcopal) at Lewiston. The Rev. James Bean, vicar of St. Peter's Episcopal Church at Pomeroy, will officiate.
Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home at Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.
