Robert Gene Barber, age 79, of West Main Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.

Born January 25, 1933, in Pike County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Jesse Clay Barber and Alma Clayton Barber.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a draftsman for various tool and die manufacturers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jesse Clay Barber, Jr., and two sisters, Nancy Johnson and Sue Tyssier.

He is survived by one son, Jesse Clay Barber III, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, one brother, Jack Barber of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, one sister, Mary Frances Scroggin of Houston, Texas, three grandchildren, Michelle Bradley, Jarrod Greer, and Stephanie Barber Glancy; and five great- grandchildren, Kali Greer, Kimberly Bradley, Jaran Greer, Jaxon Greer, and Zane Glancy.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126, who will also serve as pallbearers.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
