Mrs. Rosa Helms, 66, widow of George Helms, former member of the school board, merchant, farmer and lumberman, died Thursday night at her home in the Conner's Grove neighborhood. Eight children survive, among them State Trooper, N.D. Helms of Leesburg, Amber Helms, chief of police at Edenton, NC. A sister, Mrs. Green Conner of Roanoke also survives. Mrs. Helms, widely known in the county, was for many years the Harris telephone control. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Conner's Grove Methodist Church by the Rev. R. G. Bailey with burial in the Barringer Cemetery near the home.
