Funeral services were held this morning (Friday) at Caldwell for Joseph Calvin Mitchell, 69, of Salem, Ore., who died at his home Monday, Nov. 5.

Rev. Robert J. Pierre of the Wilder Methodist church officiated and internment was at Canyon Hill, Caldwell.

Mitchell was born February 14, 1882, in Camargo, Ill. He became a resident of Walton, Kan., when he was a young man and was married there to Mabel Mitchell. They moved to Wilder in 1918 where he was a farmer. In the fall of 1944 they moved to Salem, where they have since made their home.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel, Salem; four daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Perkins, Lewiston, Mrs. Mary Ellen Hamilton, Portland, Mrs. Josephine Watkins and Miss Cecelia Mitchell, both of Salem; three sons, Richard Mitchell, Boise, Robert and John Mitchell, both of Salem; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Ella Cheshier, Newman, Ill., Mrs. Florence Thomas, Rockville, Ind., Mrs. Clara Russell, Wichita, Kan., and Mrs. Minnie Martin, who makes her home in Virginia; and two brothers, A. W. Mitchell, Pomona, Cal., and William B. Mitchell, Wilder.
