Mariah Jane Grose was born July 1859 in Drennen, Nicholas Co., West Virginia to Henry Pilcher & Martha Esteline Miller Grose. She was married on Oct. 17, 1879 in Nicholas Co. to Rev. Henlopen "Peter" Hardway. They had seven children together, William P. Hardway, Edward Emmett Hardway, Bertie F. Hardway (Ward), Millie E. Hardway, John Clark Hardway, James Evan Hardway & Alvin Jackson Hardway. She passed on March 12, 1935 in Swiss, West Virginia. My father, her grandson, Edward E. Hardway was present at her burial in the Hardway Family Cemetery in Lyonsville. There is no headstone marking her grave.
