Marcia Horn Docking, 79, passed away on January 8, 2011 at the Santa Marta retirement community in Olathe, KS, after living most of her adult life in Kansas City, KS. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1953 with a degree in Journalism. At KU, she was president of the freshman class, a member of the Chi Omega sorority and a true blue KU fan for her entire life. She was actively involved with the Junior League of Wyandotte and Johnson Counties, and also PEO. Marcia was born in Goodland, KS in 1931, daughter of Thomas and Ada Horn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years and love of her life, Dick Docking, infant daughter Shauna Docking, infant son Sheldon Docking, and a grandson Harrison Docking. She is survived by three sons and daughters in law Gordon and Susan Docking of Overland Park, KS, Griff and Cindy Docking of Overland Park, KS, Kent and Anna Docking of Edwardsville, KS., a daughter Laura Docking Fischer of Allen, TX, six grandchildren, Kelly Docking Bracco and her husband Adam, Blake Docking, Tyler Docking and his wife Maggie, George Docking, A.J. Fischer and Alyssa Fischer, plus two great grandsons Brandon and Chase Bracco. Marcia is also survived by her two sisters, Janice Ferguson of Kansas City, MO and Barbara Davis of Arvada, CO, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday January 11 from 5-7 pm at the Highland Park Funeral Home, 4100 State Avenue in Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday January 12 at Highland Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Olathe Special Olympics, 200 W. Santa Fe, Olathe, KS, 66061.
