Christened 5 Dec 1823 in Royau, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary which is now Rájov, West Bohemia, Czech Republic. Son of Anton Lenz, farmer, and Anna Maria Egerer. Married 1844 to Barbara Fischbach, daughter of Franz Xavier Fischbach.
Arrived in the USA on Sept 14, 1854 with daughter Anna Lenz and a son who died from shipboard injuries. Served in Civil War in the 14th Wisconsin Company B from Oct, 1864-Oct.1865. Moved to Iowa and farmed 7 years. Homesteaded in 1881 in Spink County. Died 1911.
