Little Ethel May Freeborn Laid to Rest Last Tuesday Afternoon
Last Tuesday afternoon the remains of little Ethel May Freeborn, age 8 years, arrived in this city, accompanied by the uncle of the deceased child, who had brought them from the home at Pagossa, Colorado. The little girl is the daughter of Charles and Kathryn Freeborn who formerly resided in Auburn, Nebraska, and the grandchild of Mr. Willam and Mrs. Mary Freeborn, of this city.
The death of the little girl was the result of an accident sustained last Wednesday. It seems that her father and brother were doing some work in the field, and the weather being cool, had lit a bonfire of some brush. The child in playing near the fire got too close and her clothing becoming ignited she ran screaming to her uncle, who as soon as possible extinguished the flames, but not in time to save the little girl from burns so serious in nature that that resulted in her death last Friday, after days of intense suffering. Interment occurred in Sheridan Cemetery Tuesday afternoon. Short services were held at the grave by Rev. D. W. Wilt, of the Avenue M. E. Church.
