Squire R. N. "Bob" Ward, farmer, magistrate and long a prominent figure in Smyth county's Rye Valley, died at his home near Sugar Grove, Wednesday afternoon, June 22nd, at 4:30 o'clock. Mr. Ward, who was 64, had been ill several months.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. G. A. Wilson at the Ward home Friday morning, June 24th, at 10 o'clock. The services were in charge of the Masons, of which Mr. Ward was a member. Burial was at Sugar Grove.
Mr. Ward is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W. D. Calhoun of Rapid City, South Dakota, Mrs. B. S. Charleton of Radford and Mrs. Leslie Crock of Sugar Grove, and three sons, Clarence of Salem and James and Scott of Sugar Grove.
