OBITUARY
MATHIS--Funeral services for W. J. Mathis, 59 years old, who died at 9 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, 2302 Murphy avenue, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Edna Easley, 2105 Bird avenue. The body will lie in state at the Lampher chapel until the funeral hour. He had been in ill health more than six years. Mr. Mathis was a retired farmer and came to Joplin from Oklahoma. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rosie Mathis; four daughters, Mrs. T. J. Easley, 2105 Bird avenue; Mrs. Ethel Harris, 1815 Moffet avenue; Mrs. Bessie Goddwin, at home, and Mrs. Raymond Troyer, 317 Cox avenue; two sons, Earl Mathis, 2415 Bird avenue, and Orville Mathis, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Besdeck of Fort Smith, Ark., Mrs. Mary Newell of Shawnee, Okla., and Mrs. Bertha Boland of Jennie Lind, Ark., and two brothers, J. R. Mathis of Dow, Oka., and Gather Mathis, Shawnee.
