Old Resident Dead
Mr. Thomas Hayes, one of the oldest residents of Bainbridge, died at an early hour this morning. For years he was the propriator of a general store, and no man in the township was better or more favorably known.
He was eighty-three years old, and leaves a son and daughter. The latter is Mrs. James Ross, and the son is Hamilton Hayes [who] lives in Kansas.
[Note: He actually had four living children: Elizabeth Herman, Burlingame, Kansas; James Hamilton Hayes, Baker, Kansas; Mariah Louisa Ross, Bainbridge, Ohio; and Margaret Huffman, Richland, Ohio.]
