He died at aged 79 yrs, having lived most of his life in the Witnerville area. He was an ordained Free Will Baptist minister. He served several churches as pastor in counties in northeastern North Carolina, before failing health caused him to retire about ten years prior to his death.
He married Hattie L. Barber, May 21, 1902, who survives him, as well as five daughters, and four sons; also, grandchildren and great-grandchilren, and many other relatives and friends.
The deacons of Reedy Branch Free Will Baptist Church served as pallbearers, and members of the FWB Central Conference were honorary bearers.
