Born on February 16, 1925, in Richmond, Kansas, he was the son of the late Will A., and Harriet Edna (Wharton) Campbell.
The family moved to California in 1928. He attended elementary and high School in Canoga Park, Calif. He and Roberta first met in a high school class. Bill was a Sergeant serving as a radar man in the 118th Anti-Aircraft Artillery gun battalion attached to the First Army at Normandy during the liberation of France. Following his service he was with the Railway Express Agency in California and New York. Later he was employed by the Department of Education in Harrisburg, retiring in 1990.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his son, Patrick and wife, Susan; daughter, Karen Sweeney and husband, Bob; three grandchildren, Courtney, Bobby, and Shannon. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dean, Joe and Gale.
Bill and Roberta have been members of Saint Andrew Episcopal Church since 1975. He had served on the Vestry, also as usher and reader.
As per Bill's request there will be a private service at Indiantown Gap Cemetery with Father Fred Stevenson conducting a Committal Service.
