PANCAKE-BROWN
"Miss Anna Lena Brown, daughter of Nathan Brown, and Evert Pancake, son of William E. Pancake, all of Clifford, were quietly married Saturday evening at 7 o'clock, by the Rev. Manuel, pastor of the Methodist church at Taylorsville at the home of the officiating minister. The young couple returned to Clifford and for the present make their home with his father. Mr. Pancake is the manager of the elevator at Clifford, and his bride was a popular teacher in the public schools there."

Their son Wilbur was born in 1913.
Evert Pancake served as the postmaster at Clifford for six years and died in 1927.
After Evert's death Lena was a teacher at Clifford elementary until the year of her death in 1961.
She was loved by her students, and the school took a busload of her students for her funeral.
Mrs. Pancake was generous and willing to help others in need of help. When a family in Clifford had the father who was in need of health care and had to travel a distance to get it, she got up at 4am when the sky was dark and there were stars in the sky, and took in that family's children. They had an opportunity for a nap, she fed them breakfast, and when it was time for school she drove them to school. She cared for the children in the mornings for two years. Her kindness was exceptional.

She is remembered by those children that she helped, and this student of hers with love.
