Nashville Herald; r. Abner Sirmans, one of the old pioneer citizens of Berrien county, died Sunday night at the home of his son, Mr. M.G. Sirmans, eight miles east of Nashville. He was past four-score-years-and-ten, and had been in declining health for some time. Following is the list of his children: Mrs. Eliza Avera, M.G. Sirmans, Mrs. Harty Guthrie, Jonathan Sirmans, Mrs. Martha Sirmans, Mrs. Bell Turner, Mrs. Sophronia Atkins, Mrs. Kittie Turner.

Abner and John C. Sirmans are also listed on the roster of Co. E, 54th Ga Regiment that left Berrien county on May 5, 1862 for Savannah and helped organize the unit.
