She was born Feb. 27, 1926 in Stephen, Minn., to Emil and Rose (Dufault) Fournier. Ruth was a 1944 graduate of Argyle High School and on July 15, 1944 she married Melvin Imsdahl in Detroit, Mich. She and Melvin worked at the defense plant in Detroit and later moved to Richmond, Calif.
They returned to Minnesota in 1947 and lived in Thief River Falls, Grand Forks and surrounding areas. They settled in Jamestown, N.D. for 17 years, where she worked as an X-ray technician at State Hospital. They also spent a number of years in Minot, N.D. prior to retiring to Hoyt Lakes in 1987. She had been a resident of Clayridge Assisted Living in Biwabik since 2006.
She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the Hoyt Lakes Senior Citizens and was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include her children, Karen Hunt of Hoyt Lakes, Richard (Barbara) Imsdahl of Hayward, Calif., and Cherie (Albert) Casalnuovo of Wilmington, Del.; grandchildren, Chad (Kari) Hunt of Hoyt Lakes, Wade (Jenny) Hunt of Woodbury and Casey Casalnuovo of Wilmington; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Samuel and John Hunt; sisters, Dorene Enge of Thief River Falls and Adele Amiot of Crookston; brother, Clarence Fournier of Duluth; and several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; son-in-law, John Hunt; sisters, Lorraine and Mildred; and brother, Clifford.
Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.
