Fatally Crushed
Little Eda Bahrandt, aged 9, was frightfully crushed by freight cars in the Northern Pacific yards early this morning, and died shortly before nooon at Asbury hospital. The little girl had risen early and was playing about a train standing on one of the tracks in the Northern Pacific yards just across the street from her home. It is supposed that she had crept between the cars, thinking that no engine was attached, for when a switch engine backed down and the cars were brought together, a scream was heard, and the brakeman hurrying to the spot found the girl already nearly unconscious. The Asbury ambulance was called at once and the little sufferer was removed to the hospital, where she lingered only a few hours. Minneapolis Journal April 19, 1894 Page 6
