Robert Madden Adams, 78, of Hoyt Lakes, died Sunday Nov. 15, 2009, at the White Community Hospital in Aurora.

He was born July 24, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa to Richard C. and Oreta (Madden) Adams. Following his schooling, he enlisted with the United States Air Force and served at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor, Maine.

He married Althea Parker on Feb. 10, 1952, in Bangor. In 1955, they moved to Hoyt Lakes where he began working for Erie Mining Company.

Robert retired from LTV Steel in 1985 as a furnace operator. He also worked as a school bus driver for the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes school system.

Robert was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, the Steelworkers Local 4108 and the Masonic Lodge. He especially enjoyed wintering with his wife in Arizona and operating his HAM and CB radio.

Survivors include his son, Richard C. Adams; grandchildren, Cassandra, Joel, Justin and Jordan; sister, Ruth Ann (Sterling) Theobald; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Althea; son, Gregory; brother, Richard.

Inurnment was in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.
