Charles Thurman Templin, age 84 of Alcoa, died Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Loudon Health Care Center. He was born on February 25, 1918 in Coal Valley, Alabama to Roy & Bessie Smith Templin. He was raised in Benham, Kentucky. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Force and served from 1940 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater in World War II. He served as a tail-gunner on B-26 aircraft. He was a graduate of University of Tennessee. He was retired from AT&T of Burlington, NC with 30 years of service. Preceded in death by: Parents, Sisters, Elaine Shelton and Merle Benton.

Survivors include: Wife, Ada Templin; Son and Daughter-in-law, Craig & Deborah Templin of Miami, FL: Grandsons, Adam & Joshua Templin; Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Melvin Templin of Norfolk, VA, Herbert & Dorothy Templin of Maryville, and Travis & Samme Templin of Ooltewah; Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Mildred & James McCloud of Knoxville, Madge Lewis of Knoxville, Fay Ziglar of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and Shirley White of NC; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will assemble at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 9, 2002 at Grandview Cemetery for graveside service and interment with military honors to be conducted by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at their convenience after 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 8, 2002 at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, TN.
