KNIGHTDALE - William Henry "Hank" McCachren, Jr., 44, of 5112 Walton Hill Drive, Knightdale, passed away Monday, September 13, 1999, at Rex Healthcare, after a valiant struggle with cancer.
Mr. McCachren was born April 4, 1955, in Johnson City, Tennessee, the son of William H. and Edna Earle William McCachren. He attended East Carolina University and was self-employed in construction. He was a member of Knightdale United Methodist Church, where he was active in his Sunday School Class and the Men of the Church. For many years, Mr. McCachren was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Raleigh, where he served as a Deacon. He was an Eagle Scout, coached recreational soccer and basketball, was a life-long participant in football, basketball, and tennis, and had an avid love for hiking, camping, the beach and the mountains. He was greatly respected and loved, and will be missed by all those with whom he came in contact.
Surviving are: sons, James Patrick McCachren and William Thomas McCachren, both of Knightdale; daughter, Elisabeth Ashley McCachren of Knightdale; parents, William Henry and Edna Earle McCachren of Raleigh; brother, Jonathan Marcus McCachren of Boone; one aunt; five uncles; numerous cousins.
