He was one of the original proprietors of Norwich, justice of the peace, represented his town in the legislature at six sessions, and was prominent in all public affairs. He married, August 17, 1670, Mary, born 1646, died July 21, 1721, daughter of Josiah and Margaret (Bourne) Winslow and niece of Governor Winslow of the "Mayflower."

He married around 1674 to Sarah -- cannot be traced. He and his brother Johnathan settled upon the wild, unreclaimed lands on the east side of the Shetucket, then belonging to Norwich but afterwards included in Preston. He was declared a freeman in 1683. In 1684 he served as a constable. He died 1724. His will was dated 1721 and proved 1724." (from member #47123608)
