Ione Ann (Angell) Smoots, 90, McLouth, KS, passed away Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital.


Funeral service will be 11 am Wed May 23, 2012 at the McLouth Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fall Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.


Ione was born May 11, 1922 in Kansas City, MO, the only child of Ivan and Hazel (Tanquary) Angell. She graduated from Tonganoxie High School in 1940. She was united in marriage November 14, 1944 to Darrel Smoots. Together they had 5 sons and farmed in Leavenworth County near McLouth. Darrel preceded her in death January 8, 2010.


Survivors include; five sons, Mike, Pueblo, CO; Rick and Debby, McLouth, KS; Greg, Portland, OR; Dan and Jan, Emporia, KS; Tim and Barb, McLouth; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She devoted her life to her boys and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
