Samuel J. Mania, 96, of Midland, passed away May 16, 2012. Samuel was born January 21, 1916, in Paterson, NJ to Gaetana and Joseph Mania. He married Mary Gulino on February 17, 1946, in Paterson. She preceded Samuel in death on March 20, 1999. Samuel served in the United States Army, in World War II, from January 1940 to August 1945. He served as an Investigator, and was honorably discharged. After his military service, Samuel attended the University of Arkansas. He later worked as an insurance adjuster for Safeco, and eventually retired from the company. Samuel spent several years living in Dallas, and in 2004 moved to Midland. Samuel also enjoyed being a volunteer at Midland Memorial Hospital. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and David McMurtry of Midland; son, William Mania, M.D. of Dallas; and grandchildren, Meagan McMurtry and Michael McMurtry, of Midland.
