Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, Dec. 18, 2001, Tuesday, p. 2-B:

ARCADIA, LA – Woodrow Wilson Gandy went to be with his Lord Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 12:40 p.m. in Bossier City, LA. Services will be Tuesday December 18th, 11 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia, LA with a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Harrell Shelton, associate pastor of Airline Baptist Church.

Mr. Gandy was raised in Bossier Parish. In 1962 WW moved his family to Arcadia, LA where he lived until May 2001 when he moved back to Bossier.

Wilson Gandy married Miss Doris Tanner, August 29, 1933, they were married 59 years. She preceded Wilson in death in 1992. Woodrow Wilson, called "Gandy" by most of his friends and co-workers, was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Eunice Gandy; his only brother, Ernest W. Gandy and a sister, Mrs. Glennie Gandy Lewis.

Woodrow W. Gandy is survived by one son, Wilmer S. Gandy; one sister, Mrs. Allene Gandy Winston; very close special nephew, C. A. "Jack" Lewis an wife, Audrey; very close niece, Mrs. Helen Ward Robertson and husband, Don of Baton Rouge, LA; nephew, Jimmy Ward and wife, Christy of Jacksonville, AR; other nephews and nieces and several great nephews and nieces. Wilson is also survived by many friends and co-workers, Judge Sullivan, Loretta Butler, Annie Gantt, Kenneth Cumming, Gene Reeves of Arcadia, LA and Luther Moore of Minden, LA.

After working in and around Bossier Parish and in East Texas for various oil fields, Wilson started working for Exxon Oil Co. He was the lead instigator in the building of the Exxon Area Bulk Distributer of Arcadia, LA. Wilson made superintendent for the North Area Division Parts of AR, LA and Texas of Exxon, headquarters in Arcadia. This was a boom for Arcadia. Wilson spent 25 years of service and retired to live on in Arcadia. Of special pride to "Gandy" was the time he spent with his "buddies" at Arcadia Drug Store and now named Arcadia Health Mall drinking coffee and solving all the world problems.

Gandy was a real "jokester" always trying to get the best of anybody. One long time friend that kept "Master" in line and laughing was Annie Gantt, who worked for Wilson and son Wilmer for a long time. There are so many we would like to mention, but space and time do not allow.

Wilmer, Jack, Audrey and Helen want to say now, "thank you" for your thoughts and prayers.

Pallbearers will be C. A. "Jackie" Lewis, III, Lemar "Bubba" Lewis, Terry Bruce Lewis, David Rollie Winston, James M. Winston and Judge Sullivan.
