Born in Lonaconing, he was a son of the late James Gentry and Etta (Jacobs) Gentry.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah McCormick and one brother, James Henry Gentry.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mae (Powell) Gentry; three sons, one sister, Mrs. Emma Brooks, two brothers, Alvin Gentry, and Samuel Gentry, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Interment was held in Eckhart Cemetery.
