My grandfather, Samuel's grandson tells the story that Samuel died in the coal mines and his son, William had to carry him out. After years of searching, his death record was found in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He had remarried and moved there. He had only been married a year when the accident happened.

The birth date above is what is on his birth certificate. His death certificate has his birth date as November 6th. It also has his mother's maiden name misspelled "Golf."

Nellie and Samuel had five children; Charles Claude, Ralph J, William Franklin, Clara Virginia and Paul Albert. Nellie died while giving birth to Paul.
