DENNIS O'BRIEN DIES AT HARTFORD
Was Bowling When Stricken – Spent Many Years in This Town
Shelburne Falls, Oct. 7 – Dennis O'Brien, 60, died suddenly in a Hartford (Ct.) bowling alley when in the act of bowling, one of his favorite sports. Mr. O'Brien, a native of Williamsburg, spend his boyhood and early manhood in Shelburne Falls, but for some years had lived in Hartford and was employed in an asbestos plant. Before leaving Shelburne Falls he had been employed at the Mayhew Steel Products plant. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James W. O'Brien. As an athlete when living here he was very prominent, baseball and basketball being his favorites. He had won championships in numerous bowling contests in the state. He is survived by his wife and two children in Springfield; four sisters, Mrs Louis Cramer of Whately, Mrs John Hogan of Florence, Mrs Mary O'Malley of Northampton and Mrs John Gebo of Colrain; also four brothers, Joseph J., James W., of Shelburne Falls, Michael of Northampton and A. Francis of the Northampton state police barracks. The body has been brought to Johnson's funeral home in Shelburne Falls to remain there until the hour of the funeral which will be held in St. Joseph's church with Rev. Michael Lahey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Arms cemetery.
