Cardinal A. Cameron: Cardinal A. (Cardy) Cameron, 74, of 602 N. Staffon St. died at 1:10 am Friday at Memorial Medical Center after an extended illness.He was born September 15, 1913 in Custer where he grew up and went to school, graduating from Custer High School in 1932. He first worked with Civilian Conservation Corps. Then he worked as a mechanic for a Ford car dealer. From 1948 – 1978 he was employed at Dow Chemical, Ludington, as a journeyman maintenance millwright. He was a member of United Steelworkers Union No. 12773, and a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
He was first married to Rhoda Belle McKenzie and she died in 1941. He remarried on Dec. 30, 1948 in Ludington to Myrtle J. Abrahamson and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James (Pat) Kauffman of Livonia, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Vanderveer of Wilmington, Dela; one son, John and Diana Cameron of Morehead, KY; one sister, Mrs. Edward (Claribel) Bucholtz of Ludington; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Cameron will be celebrated at 11 am Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Gillespie, celebrant.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may begin calling at the Dorrell Funeral Home after noon Sunday. The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday. A rosary service for family and friends will be held with Father Gillespie at 8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
