Mr. Schwartz was employed as a mechanic at Fauber Construction Co. for eight years, retiring in 1961. Prior to that, he was a mechanic at Kepner Motor Truck Center and Shambaugh Garage. A Navy veteran of World War I, he was a life member and 1952-1953 commander of American Legion Post 11. He had held almost every office in the local legion and also several state offices. He was a life member of 40&8 and had held several state offices in that organization. He also was a member of Veterans of World War I and Navy Club Ship 12.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James F. Murphy of Lafayette and June Schwartz, at home; one brother, Richard "Bud" Schwartz of Lafayette; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
