Mr. McMurtray, a retired sheet metal worker, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday in Southwest General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 16, 1892, in Yazoo County, he was the son of the late Willie Warren and Hope Taylor McMurtray.
He was a member of the Osyka Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ruth Turnage McMurtray; one daughter, Mrs. Nina M. Cooke, Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. Alma Riner, Holly Grove, Ark; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
Rev. Richard Gordon will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
