Samuel was the son of Charles Riley Amadon and Agnes McCartney. Samuel immigrated to this country in 1881. In about 1888 he married Anna Brison, of Minnesota, daughter of W.S. and Anna Brison.
They had their first child, Herbert, in South Dakota in 1890. In March of 1898 they had their second son, Carman, in Lancaster, NH and that was their home for the rest of their lives. In 1903 they also had a daughter, Garnet L.
