Margaret Illene Barth was born in Topeka, Kansas Feb. 1, 1921, and passed away May 14, 2012.
Margie graduated from High School in Kansas City before moving to San Diego during World War II to seek employment. San Diego is where she married Eddie Wechsler and they owned a restaurant bar. They later had their first daughter Margaret. In 1953 Eddie passed away.
A few years later, she met her soon to be husband DeWayne Barth. She and DeWayne moved to Sasebo, Japan, for two years, where the Navy deployed them, DeWayne was a US Arizona World War II survivor. Margie had her second daughter Deborah in Japan.
In the sixties they retired back to DeWayne's home town of Forest City. Margie enjoyed her time spent raising her two daughters, and the times with her two grandchildren Cristi and Brad who were the loves of her life. She enjoyed her volunteer work at her church and other numerous organizations in Iowa. In 1999, she and DeWayne moved to Houston to be closer to their family. She resided at the Terrace. Margie enjoyed taking trips, playing cards, gambling and especially shoe shopping.
Margie is preceded in death by her beloved grandson Bradley Ambroson; husband DeWayne Barth; and four sisters, Helen, Cora, Collette and Ann.
She is survived by her daughters Margaret Ambroson and her husband Tom; and Deborah Arns and her husband Jim; and granddaughter Cristi Ambroson. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
At the family's request donations can be made to the National Parkinsons Foundation or Evercare Hospice.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne's Church, 2140 Westheimer, Thursday, May 17, at 10:30 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, at 2 p.m.
