Mr. Grove was born March 25, 1920, in Stewartstown, the son of the late Curvin R.T. and Louise (Thompson) Grove.
He served his country during WWII and retired from PennDot where he was a stock clerk and was honored as employee of the month in May 1985. Mr. Grove also owned and operated the Lincoln Highway Motel and drove bus and trolley in the city of York.
Mr. Grove was a member of the Gettysburg United Methodist Church, the Zeradatha Lodge No. 451 F&AM, York, the Harrisburg Consistory, the Stewartstown VFW Post 7046, the AMVETS Post 172, Fairfield and the CWV Post 1342, Bonneauville.
He is survived by his nieces, Linda Golden and husband, Richard, of Red Lion, Deborah Horn and husband, Martin, of Gettysburg and Kathy DeVine and husband, Steve, of New Oxford; nephews, Robert Gladfelter and wife, Brenda, of Red Lion and Ronald Mundis and wife, Sue, of Red Lion; brother-in-law, Waldo Gladfelter, of Red Lion; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, William Grove and his sisters, Ferne Gladfelter and Myrtle Mundis.
A service to celebrate the life of Robert C. Grove will be held May 18, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Gettysburg United Methodist Church, Gettysburg with Rev. Jay E. Zimmerman officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Arendtsville.
